Sports Massage / Injury Treatments

Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries.
Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively.

Each type of sport has different demands on the players. Each sport uses muscle groups in a different way. Sports massage is designed to address those specific concerns and may differ according to the sport the athlete plays.

Injury Treatments
Whether you are injured, in pain or just mysteriously performing below standard, relax, you’re in the right place. If your focus is on achieving peak performance, you’re going to feel right at home too.

John Earls has a unique Sports & Physical Therapy Clinic dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of Sports Injuries and musculoskeletal problems. We take the same dynamic approach to benefit all individuals including sports persons, recreational athletes and the non-exercising individual.

Strapping and Taping
These techniques can help prevent injury as well as protect the athlete from further injury whilst returning to sport. The role of taping is to limit the range of movement in an injured joint to prevent excess or abnormal movement. In addition it should prove supportive to the muscles surrounding the joint that may be under additional strain due to the injury.
